If you’re a solopreneur or small business owner, you’ve probably felt it. That moment when your business feels heavier than it should. You’re juggling too many offers, unsure what’s working, and running on fumes. I know the feeling well.
One of my favorite times of day is early morning, before the sun rises and before the emails start rolling in. That quiet moment with a cup of coffee and a book is where I do some of my best thinking.
Right now, I’m re-reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. If you haven’t read it yet, add it to your list. If you have, it’s worth a second look because there are so many nuggets inside. This morning, one line jumped out:
“The secret to maximizing your odds of success is to choose the right field of competition.”
It made me think about how often solopreneurs spread themselves too thin. Saying yes to every client request, trying to compete in every field, and ending up stretched beyond what feels sustainable.
What starts out as a strength, being adaptable and multi talented, can quickly become the very thing that burns you out.
Sound familiar?
And worst of all, you feel discouraged, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the business you once loved.
❌ You keep customizing your offers and proposals to meet each client’s unique request
❌ You constantly second guess whether your offers are the “right” ones
❌ You keep adding new services hoping one will “click”
❌ You’re working harder but feeling less clear
❌ Your calendar is full, but your results feel flat
Back to James Clear’s insight: the right field of competition matters more than how hard you work.
You can hustle as much as you want, but if your energy is spread across too many offers, the wrong services, or clients who drain you, you’ll feel exhausted instead of successful.
The solution isn’t to do more.
It’s to focus better.
You don’t need a million offers. You need the right ones delivered with clarity and confidence.
💡 (If you want help sorting through what to keep and what to let go, I created a free tool called the Offer Clarity Roadmap. More on that below.)
(Inspired by Atomic Habits, Chapter 18)
If you’re unsure what to focus on or if everything feels equally draining, these four questions will help you realign:
One of my clients was offering seven different services. She was constantly customizing and pivoting based on what people asked for. She felt overwhelmed and pulled in too many directions, like she wasn’t giving her best to any of them.
Once we used this roadmap to narrow down to just three core offers she loved delivering, her income grew, her schedule simplified, and she finally felt in control of her business again.
She told me: “This is the first time I feel like I’m actually running my business instead of it running me.”
(Who Also Happens to Be My Son)
When I first started my business and was building out my offers, I was all over the place. I was trying to give people options, trying to meet everyone’s needs.
Then my son, Matt Kisiday, a sought after entrepreneur, said something I’ll never forget:
“Mom, when you go to a restaurant, do you order whatever you want or do you order off the menu?”
“That menu was selected by the chef. It includes their best recipes, what they can deliver consistently, what they enjoy making, and what people love enough to come back for. Your business should be the same.”
That one conversation gave me the clarity I needed to simplify and grow.
👉 Your job isn’t to be a buffet.
👉 It’s to create your own unique menu.
To help you get started, I created a simple tool called the Offer Clarity Roadmap.
It’s a self guided, visual worksheet that walks you through the four questions above and helps you score each offer based on:
✅ How fun and energizing it is
✅ Whether it puts you in flow
✅ The ROI it generates
✅ How naturally it fits you
In less than ten minutes, you’ll know which offers are your “signature dishes”… and which ones might need to come off the menu.
Whether you download the roadmap or just take five minutes with a notebook, here’s what you can do now:
If you’re ready to cut through the noise and finally focus on the right offers, book a 60 minute Offer Clarity Session.
